Job Description

Technical Training Manager

The Technical Training Manager is responsible for developing client’s Service Training program and strategy. Whereas the Technical Trainer provides the actual training, the Training Manager should develop the vision and strategy required to commercialize training, set up the correct structures, tools and systems to support training. Also the TTM should have didactic expertise to ensure that the tooling, content and form of training and testing is adequate and will deliver the expected results.

Lastly, the TTM should also develop internal training programs to ensure smooth and quick onboarding of new hires. Furthermore, this should also include continuous training and knowledge improvement of the Service team and ensuring feedback loops are put in place which guarantee that lessons learned in the field are translated back into training and the remote team. This can be expanded on as this discipline evolves and could be performed for more than only Service.

Thus, the TTM has experience with working in a technical environment and with complex products and a strong understanding of how to train different levels of skill and experience both internally and externally. Being able to develop a vision and identifying opportunities for commercialization is critical to the TTM’ success.

Training Program Development

  • Safety & quality comes first and foremost.
  • Work with the QHSE team to ensure that all internal and external personnel is continuously up to date on all safety requirements for on-site and hands-on activities.
  • Identify where skills gaps are, both internally and externally
  • Do so for multiple teams but with initial focus on Service Team The Battery
  • Design a program that will address gaps and includes other identified training needs
  • Use different methods and levels of training, online/virtual trainings, on-site trainings, hands-on product training etc.
  • Develop a vision of where the training discipline should be, short-term, mid-term and long-term.
  • Outline a roadmap of how to achieve short-, mid-term and long-term goals.
  • Ensure training needs are met for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify required budget and work efficiently within allocated budget.
  • Develop manuals and templates for the Service Team to feed their knowledge into to help new hires and existing team members to scale up their knowledge quickly.

Structure, Process & Systems

  • Define what organizational structure is required to enable the goals outlined in the roadmap
  • Develop supporting processes required to enable a successful training discipline.
  • Work with Technical Trainer(s) to ensure that they deliver the trainings at the required level, use tools correctly and understand what competencies they need to improve on.
  • Collect feedback both internally and externally to guarantee feedback loops that allow for improvement in training
  • Adapt to client’s existing Learning Management Systems and expand on it where needed, developing convincing business case(s).
  • Define KPI’s to keep track of the quality and outcomes of the training and report on these quarterly.
  • Understand where the market is moving towards and what the best practices are and ensure that the company stays up to date with the latest & greatest where relevant and possible.
  • Develop a certification process and structure where trained candidates receive a certificate and allowing company to keep track of every internal and external certified candidate.
  • Report quarterly on refresher training requirements or recertification requirements, both internally and externally.
  • Ensure everything is documented adequately.
  • Support the Service Team in developing a knowledge base system in which new information can be recorded and prepared for manuals.

Commercialization

  • Perform market research to understand how competitors’ price and position their trainings
  • Understand and provide insights how best to commercialize client’s training capacity
  • Work with the Sales team to ensure that Training is sold in line with what can and should be delivered, providing input and support on how best to sell training.
  • Work closely with strategic partners, developing tailored training where appropriate.
  • Develop different training modules based on customer needs and product groups.
  • Drive a profitable training program with scalable growth perspectives
