Our History

From its incorporation at the turn of the century to today, WTS Energy has continuously grown to become a global provider of solutions for the Energy and Engineering market. In this dynamic field, we continue to develop solutions to meet our customers evolving needs. Many more markets are yet to be won, and are ready to take on the challenge.

2000
JW Scholten founds www.worldwideworker.com, a job board for the global Energy industry marketing job postings and CV search accounts.
2001
Opening office in Houston, USA
2002
www.oilcareerfair.com is launched in cooperation with the Society of Petroleum Engineers (www.spe.org). It organized Recruitment Events and Job Fairs at Global Oil and Gas events and provided consultancy services in Human Resource management.
2002
Opening first office in the Middle East in Dubai, UAE, later followed by a second office in Abu Dhabi and a rep office in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia
2003
Addition of Recruitment and Manpower supply services company offerings
2005
Opening first West-African office, in Lagos, Nigeria, followed by establishing a representation in Libreville, Gabon
2007
Frederik Rengers becomes CEO of Worldwideworker
2009
Period of expansion rapid expansion in the Middle East. Opening joint venture office in Amman, Jordan. Establishing representative offices in South Iraq (Basra) and North Iraq (Erbil) and Sanaa, Yemen.
2010
Worldwideworker Online Services is sold to Dice Holdings (NYS: DHX).
2010
Launch of WTS Energy with a focus on Global Recruitment Campaigns, Manpower Supply/Technical Assistance and Payroll Outsourcing Services to the Global Energy industry
2011
Period of business growth and company expansion focused on Recruitment Campaigns and the delivery of Local, Asian and Western Engineers to Oil and Gas and Energy projects around the world.
2012
Continued business expansion and focus on further developing a blue chip, compliant payroll and employment capability for oil and gas engineers and construction engineers around the world. WTS Energy is during this period operational in 50 countries.
2014
Implementation of WTS Energy ‘Cloud’ strategy where all Admin systems move to state of the art Cloud environment. Company continues to expand organically and through acquisitions to new markets with the establishment of our first office in East Africa in Maputo, Mozambique. Acquisition of Koli Consulting and creation of WTS Energy Central Europe, in Belgrade, Serbia.
2015
Continued growth in challenging market conditions: Expansion of operations in Gabon to Port Gentil. Establishment of a key partnership with Target Oilfield Services, Muscat, Sultanate of Oman. Acquisition of Radar Recruitment, Kenya and creating of a hub office in East Africa.
2016
Launch of the “WTS International” brand to support Clients with activities in Engineering and Construction and Technology projects in East Africa.
2017
WTS Energy Romania opens its doors
2018
WTS Energy acquires Environmental Technology Company The Sniffers.
2019
WTS Energy sells The Sniffers to Intero Integrity Services.

Our Sustainability goals

In 2015, the UN adopted 17 sustainable development goals (UNSDGs), which seek to address the world’s biggest challenges, including ending poverty, improving health and education, making cities sustainable and tackling climate change.

We embrace!

We embrace the UNSDGs and continue to develop our approach to how we can achieve them. The UNSDGs are relevant to WTS Energy’s operations around the world to varying degrees and we are already contributing to many of these goals. Since 2018, we’ve been prioritizing two goals that we feel we can meaningfully contribute to. Our 15 years of experience in providing high-quality jobs to people all over the world enables the organization to have a positive impact on society.

We fully support the Paris Agreement, and its goal in keeping the rise in global temperatures below two degrees Celsius. We hope to add significant value in reducing emissions across the energy value chain.

DECENT WORK AND ECONOMIC GROWTH

Employment is a critical route out of poverty and towards prosperity. We provide jobs around the world and aim to follow labour, health and safety standards. We encourage knowledge transfer and work with our clients and others to offer training to build local skills and expertise. Recently, we opened our training centre in Gabon that also offers public courses such as teaching English to the local community for free. Because of WTS’s presence in many countries we contribute to local economic growth by paying taxes.

CLIMATE ACTION

We are seeking cost-effective ways to help our client to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and conduct Research & Development on best available techniques to develop better solutions. We seek to contribute to reducing global GHG emissions by: Monitoring and follow up emission leaks, Flare emissions and underground leaks at our client sites. Implementing energy-efficiency measures in our operations where reasonably practical Benchmarking of sites around the world to uncover areas of improvement.
