Naval Architect (FPSO)
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Naval Architect in the oil and gas industry in Dubai, UAE, plays a crucial role in design, FEED, construction of FPSO, FSO structures. The primary duties and responsibilities may include:
Design: Design and develop FPSO structures, hulls, and systems using computer-aided design (CAD) software and other engineering tools. Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and client requirements.
Stability Analysis: Conduct stability analysis to determine the buoyancy, stability, and trim of ships, ensuring their safe and efficient operation.
Hydrodynamic Analysis: Perform hydrodynamic calculations and simulations to optimize ship performance, including resistance, propulsion, and maneuverability.
Structural Analysis: Conduct structural analysis to assess the strength, stability, and integrity of ship structures, considering various load conditions and safety factors.
Technical Drawings and Documentation: Create detailed technical drawings, specifications, and documentation for ship construction, systems integration, and outfitting.
Material Selection: Select appropriate materials for shipbuilding, considering factors such as strength, weight, durability, and corrosion resistance.
Project Management: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and project managers, to ensure seamless integration of ship systems and components.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with classification society rules, international maritime regulations, and local standards throughout the design and construction process.
Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and hazards associated with ship design and propose mitigation measures to enhance safety.
Research and Development: Stay updated on the latest advancements in naval architecture, shipbuilding technology, and maritime industry trends. Apply innovative solutions to improve ship performance, efficiency, and sustainability.
Client Interaction: Liaise with clients, shipowners, and stakeholders to understand their requirements, provide technical advice, and address any design-related queries or concerns.
Construction Oversight: Provide technical guidance and support during the shipbuilding process, ensuring adherence to design specifications and quality standards.
