Instrument Engineer (offshore/FPSO)
OBJECTIVE:
Responsible for organization and overall operations of the Instrument in the Engineering department of EPC division within Safety, Quality, on Schedule and budgetary target set to support achieving overall department goals from initial conceptual stage through FFED, detail engineering and construction with expertise in offshore (FPSO,FSO etc) oil and gas industry projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Day- to-day operations:
• Assume sole responsibility for assigned Instrument engineering work scopes
• Carry out Instrument discipline work within a project team, supporting the project team for field development of oil and gas production facilities
• F & G layout, block diagram, cable schedule , F & G cause and effect, MR, TBE
• SOW for DCS, F & G, ESD, DCS , CCTV modification
• Logic drawings
• Vendor drawing review
• Plan, budget, organize and control a segment of the electrical engineering deliverables for the project
• Prepare electrical deliverables for all phases of the offshore (FPSO, FSO) projects
• Ensure that all work is completed without compromise to quality and is delivered according to the project schedule
• Provide direction and guidance on all instrument engineering technical queries raised by either internal or external parties
• Liaise with the Client’s Engineering, staff as required to ensure a consistent approach to project completion
• Promote safe behavior at all times
• Provide sound technical advice and solutions to a diversity of technical problems within the discipline
• Co-ordinate with other disciplines during all stages of design development, construction, pre-commissioning, and start-up
• Assist in the coordination of all activities related to instrument engineering design
• Identify any areas of concern with respect to progress and/or quality and recommend corrective actions as required
KEY COMPETENCIES
Technical competencies:
• Fully trained and knowledgeable with relevant instrument Safety and Occupational Health & Safety standards.
• Broad technical knowledge of engineering designing of instrument systems & Controls in basic design, detailed engineering and production stages for systems for marine and offshore platforms, FPSO, FSO etc.
• Extensive experience in the design of microprocessor-based equipment such as SCADA/DCS, ESD, IPS Fire & Gas Detection, Fire Protection Systems, metering, WHCP, etc
• Broad technical knowledge of installation and commissioning of instrument systems
• Strong background with resolution of technical issues during projects planning and EPC execution phases.
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, prioritize and successfully execute tasks in accordance with business objectives.
• Project management skills.

• Managing projects with multi-skill requirement with the available limited resources as per project schedule
• Varied project requirement over different segments of offshore oil & gas (FPSO, FSO) projects.
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential Desirable Education
• Bachelor/Engineering degree in Instrument/Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
Training
• Proficient with software such as ETAP, AGi32 etc. ERP, EDMS, MS Office
Experience
• 10 -15 years relevant experience in shipyard, offshore / Oil & Gas industry in design office or EPC.
• Minimum of 6 years proven capability in an engineering design company
• Experience in offshore topsides facilities including FPSO, FSO projects
• Extensive experience in the design of microprocessor-based equipment such as SCADA/DCS, ESD, IPS Fire & Gas Detection, Fire Protection Systems, metering, WHCP, etc
• Experience with performing instrument as per IEC/IEEE standards, a very good knowledge and understanding of ABC, DNV_GL, LR, BV classification rule requirements and IMO, SOLAS regulations
