Job Title: Barge Master 

Location: Jack up drilling rig – Offshore 

Reports to: OIM

Summary:

The Barge Master is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the jack up drilling rig’s marine systems. This includes ensuring that all marine operations are carried out in accordance with statutory controls and guidelines, as well as the company’s safety and environmental policies. The Barge Master also has responsibility for the health and safety of all personnel.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor the weather conditions and rig motions, informing the OIM of conditions likely to affect the drilling operations and seaworthiness of the rig.
• Ensure that accurate calculations of load distribution and weights for daily stability reports and lightship are maintained.
• Ensure all navigation equipment is maintained.
• Monitor quantities of expendables (field, water etc).
• Ensure cranes are in workable order.
• Ensure all safety equipment is maintained.
• Participate in daily operations meetings.
• Operate / maintain the bulk system as required.
• Have HSE and Personnel responsibilities.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Barge Master in the offshore oil and gas industry.
• Valid BOSIET certificate and others. 
• Excellent knowledge of marine operations and procedures.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
