Job Description: Plant & Workshop Responsible

Role: Plant & Workshop Responsible Reporting to: Plant Manager Construction Project: Highway Construction

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Plant Manager in overseeing the operation, maintenance, and deployment of plant and workshop / equipment on the highway construction project.
  • Monitor and coordinate the daily activities of plant and workshop / equipment, ensuring they are used efficiently and in accordance with project requirements.
  • Conduct regular inspections of plant and workshop / equipment to ensure they are in proper working condition and comply with safety standards.
  • Keep accurate records of plant and workshop / equipment usage, maintenance schedules, and repair history.
  • Assist in preparing and implementing maintenance plans and schedules for all construction equipment.
  • Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure timely availability of required plant and workshop / equipment for the construction site.
  • Support the Plant Manager in identifying and addressing any issues related to plant and workshop / equipment performance and maintenance.
  • Assist in managing the inventory of spare parts, tools, and materials required for plant and workshop / equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure that all repairs and servicing of plant and workshop / equipment are carried out promptly and effectively.
  • Implement and promote safety procedures and practices related to the operation and maintenance of plant and equipment.
  • Support the Plant Manager in providing training to workshop / equipment operators and construction staff on proper equipment usage and safety protocols.
  • Assist in monitoring fuel consumption and equipment utilization to optimize operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the Plant Manager to develop and implement strategies to minimize downtime and maximize the lifespan of plant and equipment.
  • Participate in meetings and communicate effectively with the Plant Manager and other project team members to provide updates on plant and workshop / equipment status.
  • Maintain a clean and organized working environment for plant and equipment storage and maintenance activities.
  • Report any accidents, incidents, or near misses involving plant and workshop / equipment to the Plant Manager and Safety Officer.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree, High school diploma or equivalent qualification. Additional technical certifications in mechanics, equipment operation, or related fields are advantageous.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a construction project environment.
  • Basic knowledge of construction plant and workshop / equipment, including bulldozers, excavators, loaders, graders, and other relevant machinery.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices related to plant and equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail for maintaining accurate records and documentation.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills to interact with the Plant Manager, equipment operators, and other project personnel.
  • Physical ability to inspect and move around the construction site to assess plant and equipment.
  • Proficient in using computer applications and software for record-keeping and communication purposes.
