Mechanical Technician (UAE National)

Job Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE
Carry out mechanical maintenance, installation, troubleshooting, and repair of pipeline’s rotating and static mechanical equipment located on the various plant sites and pipeline network system to ensure availability, maintainability, reliability, and efficiency.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Organize and supervise the activities and work of maintenance technicians to ensure that all work within the assigned team is carried out in an efficient manner that is consistent with operating procedures and policy. Provide on-the-job training and constructive feedback to subordinates to support their overall development
  • Allocate work to the team, and conduct toolbox meetings/ safety talks prior to tasks to support the successful completion of activities in accordance with safety standards.
  • Supervise and conduct hands-on day-to-day operations of mechanical maintenance related to plant, network, and downstream operational facilities as per department directives and requirements to ensure that work processes are implemented as designed and comply with established standards, procedures, codes and practices, and those appropriate techniques are used. Inspect and certify that scaffolding structures are safe for normal use.
  • Undertake the required initiatives to effectively estimate man-hour requirements, plan work schedules, assign and direct subordinates and attend the work site during installation, maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment associated with facilities and systems. Assist the maintenance team in establishing priorities,
  • making improvements on work methods, evaluating modification proposals and failure analysis.
  • Participate in the planning, scheduling and execution of shutdown and major overhaul maintenance activities. Monitor and ensure that the shutdown maintenance jobs are carried out within the scheduled time frame.
  • Lead/participate in performing condition monitoring of rotating equipment and advice on the maintenance schedule based on the analysis. Assist the Mechanical Engineer during the inspection of piping and static equipment.
  • Prepare spare parts list for all mechanical equipment, especially critical equipment and issue the purchase/material requisitions for approval of superior to support timely availability of parts on time and in an accurate manner. Inspect and confirm the specifications are in line with the requirement of the received ‘direct charge’ and ‘stock materials.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and participate in the preventive, corrective and troubleshooting maintenance activities for plant equipment at the assigned location.
  • Ensure adherence of self and team with the Company’s Health, Safety and Environment Management System (HSE-MS) and promote awareness of its use among all assigned personnel.
  • Report any significant faults or deterioration that may affect the safety and/or operational efficiency of the equipment and piping.
  • Participate in the preparation of the scope of work and quality control for painting and under-logging corrosion survey. Assisting in conducting quality assurance of all welding, insulation, painting and refractory works to validate adherence to defined guidelines.
  • Carry out servicing and calibration of pressure safety valves (PSVs) as per planned maintenance.
  • Supervise dismantling, removal and lifting of various types of medium to large valves installed on the gas pipelines and plant.
  • Carry out the replacement of gas line filters at main gas network stations.
  • Provide assistance during pigging activities.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance activity for instrument air compressors and diesel engines.
  • Update the equipment data, history, and maintenance records in the SAP system for the timely availability of up-to-date information.
  • Perform other similar or related duties as required or assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • High diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5 years relevant work experience in conducting mechanical activities in the energy sector.
  • 2 years in positions of progressively increasing supervisory responsibilities.
  • Experience in testing and maintenance methodology.
  • Experience in conducting preventive and predictive maintenance processes is desirable.
  • Knowledge of gas testing and calibration techniques
  • Knowledge of maintenance of medium and large valves in gas plant
  • Knowledge of maintenance of instrument air compressors and diesel generators
  • Knowledge of servicing pressure safety valves
  • Knowledge of maintenance management methods, predictive inspection tools, good knowledge of SAP
  • Knowledge of general mechanical engineering
  • Knowledge of, health and safety laws and regulations
  • Understanding of preventative/predictive maintenance theory
  • Knowledge of all relevant plant processes and equipment
  • Computer literacy
  • Communication and interpersonal skills
