Job Description

BOILER MAKER

Job Roles/Responsibilities:

  1. Boilermaking and Fabrication:
    • Fabricate and assemble metal structures, components, and equipment, including boilers, tanks, and pressure vessels, according to engineering drawings and specifications.
    • Perform cutting, welding, and shaping of metal using various tools and equipment.
  2. Installation and Maintenance:
    • Install, repair, and maintain boilers, pressure vessels, and related equipment in accordance with safety standards and project requirements.
    • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure the optimal functioning of boilers and associated systems.
  3. Blueprint Reading:
    • Interpret and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to accurately assemble and install components.
  4. Welding and Cutting:
    • Proficiently use welding and cutting equipment to join and shape metal components, ensuring structural integrity and adherence to industry standards.
    • Use specialized welding equipment and techniques (e.g., SMAW, GMAW, GTAW) to ensure high-quality, pressure-tight welds according to code requirements.
  5. Maintenance and Repair:
    • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance tasks on existing boilers and related equipment, including cleaning, inspection, troubleshooting, and minor repairs.
    • Repair cracks, leaks, and other defects in boiler components using authorized welding procedures.
  6. Quality Assurance:
    • Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality standards, codes, and specifications.
    • Identify and rectify any defects or issues in the fabrication or installation process.
  7. Safety Compliance:
    • Adhere to safety regulations and practices to ensure a safe working environment.
    • Implement and enforce safety protocols during fabrication, installation, and maintenance activities.
  8. Material Handling:
    • Handle and transport materials, tools, and equipment safely and efficiently.
    • Coordinate with other construction trades to optimize workflow and project timelines.
  9. Team Collaboration:
    • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other construction professionals to coordinate tasks and ensure project goals are met.
    • Collaborate with other trades to integrate boilermaking activities into the overall construction project.

Qualifications/Experience:

  1. Education:
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Completion of a formal apprenticeship program or equivalent vocational training in boilermaking, welding and fabrication is preferred.
  2. Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Boilermaker in maintenance, installation construction, and crude refining projects.
  3. Skills:
    • Proficient in using various hand and power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication machinery.
    • Strong knowledge of different welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and arc welding.
  4. Certifications:
    • Welding certifications, such as AWS certification, API RP 2201, ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code are advantageous.
    • Relevant safety certifications, such as OSHA 10 or 30, are preferred. 5. Physical Fitness:
    • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials and working in confined spaces.
  1. Problem-Solving Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and address issues during fabrication, installation, and maintenance activities.
  2. Communication Skills:
    • Effective verbal communication to collaborate with team members and convey information accurately.
  3. Adaptability:
    • Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and work in diverse environments.
