  • Identify and analyze potential risks associated with the various aspects of the assets’ operations, including strategic, financial, and reputational risks.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to evaluate the likelihood and potential impact of identified risks on the company’s objectives, and projects, on the asset(s).
  • Develop and implement strategies to mitigate or minimize identified risks. This will involve developing contingency plans, implementing risk treatments or controls, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Continuously monitor and review risk exposure, performance indicators, and industry trends to identify emerging threats and opportunities, using risk data analytics, modeling techniques, and risk management tools.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, company policies, and industry best practices related to enterprise risk management. Also, you will be required to prepare and present risk reports and updates to senior management, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities as required.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including operations, finance, legal, and HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) departments, as well as external stakeholders such as partners, contractors, and regulatory agencies, to effectively manage risks and drive continuous business process improvement.
  • Develop and implement crisis management plans to respond effectively to unforeseen events or emergencies that may impact operations, personnel safety, or the environment.
  • Provide training and awareness programs to employees and contractors on enterprise risk management principles, practices, and protocols to foster a culture of risk awareness and accountability throughout the organization, from top to bottom.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization, efficiency gains, and risk mitigation enhancements through regular review and evaluation of risk management processes and practices.
  • Contribute to the development of long-term strategic plans and business objectives by providing risk insights, scenario analysis, and recommendations to the Board and Senior management.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data, perform scenario analysis, and make data-driven decisions to manage risk effectively.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to anticipate future risks, identify opportunities, and develop proactive risk management strategies aligned with the organization’s long-term goals and objectives.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to convey technical information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences, prepare comprehensive risk reports, and facilitate risk workshops or meetings.
  • Proven leadership abilities with the capacity to lead cross-functional teams, foster collaboration, and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization to achieve risk management objectives.
  • Sound understanding of financial principles, including cost-benefit analysis, budgeting, and financial modeling, to assess the financial impact of risks and evaluate risk management investments.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry regulations, environmental laws, and permitting requirements governing upstream oil & gas operations to ensure compliance and mitigate regulatory risks.
  • Familiarity with risk management software, data analytics tools, and digital technologies used for risk assessment, reporting, and decision support (e.g., enterprise risk management systems, predictive analytics, GIS software).

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Business Administration, Risk Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., Certified Risk Manager – CRM, Project Management Professional – PMP, Chartered Financial Analyst – CFA) may be preferred or advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of upstream oil & gas operations, including exploration, drilling, production, reservoir management, and field development processes.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific regulations, standards, and best practices related to health, safety, environment, and regulatory compliance (e.g., API standards, ISO 31000, OSHA regulations).
