Job Description

The Wear Parts Manager is responsible for all tasks related to sourcing and procurement of appropriate heavy-duty steel (forged/cast) centrifugal pumps, excavation parts, tools, slurry transport pipelines/hoses and associated hardware.

Duties and responsibilities:

Identify, prequalify and manager critical supply chain vendors for all wear components, pipeline supplies and related hardware for dredges and booster pump stations. This includes staying abreast of manufacturing and delivery lead times.

Coordinate with the operational Divisions and Maintenance groups to agree and establish appropriate inventory levels of onboard vessel wear spares, yard inventory quantities and fleet pipeline/hose inventories.

Coordinate with Yard Managers on inventory levels and open orders per established min/max quantities.

Communicate and update anticipated delivery dates of items below policy level to yard and division management.

Serve as subject matter expert staying up to date on latest product developments in the field of dredge wear components.

Investigate new products, coordinate with Fleet Engineering, Divisions and Maintenance to trial new components and materials.

Review and approve all wear component/part requisitions for transfer or purchase.

Assist buyers with quoting requirements and vendor selection.

Develop, maintain and distribute metrics related to component life and relative cost for determining best value. (Pumps, excavating heads, cutter teeth, steel, hose and HDPE pipelines).

Process or assist with related service requests and rebuilds to ensure we are performing best value repairs.

Coordinate with vessel data base team to ensure all vessel and yard part hierarchies are current.

Update as required in the computer-based management system.

Participate in regular reviews of company wear parts inventory and condition with Divisions, Yard Management and Maintenance.

Make recommendations for supply levels based on relative metrics, vendor delivery times and additions/subtractions to the parts hierarchy.


Minimum qualifications needed:

Full COVID 19 Vaccination Required

B.S. degree in Engineering, metallurgy, supply chain management

3-5 years experience in heavy foundry, metals fabrication industry. maritime/dredging/heavy civil excavation experience a plus.

Technical background and procurement experience within foundry and steel fabrication industry to include welding.

Working knowledge of metallurgy, heat treatment with respect to casting and fabrication of tools and parts.

Working knowledge of large centrifugal dredge pumps.

Critical thinker and problem solving skills.

Team player.

Must have previous long-term tenure employment history

Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate virtually.
