Job Description

For our client, a major company responsible for all phases of the oil and gas industry, we are looking for Manager Trading Risk Control LNG.


Develop and implement the risk control policies and procedures at the overall and desk level, in line with planned trading strategies and acceptable trading risk levels as approved by the trading board, and where relevant submit any trading risk management policy to the Risk Control Committee and then the Board for review and approval.

Set up risk control capability, recruit and onboard critical volume of risk analysts.

Ensure that the trading risk control models (Market-to-Market and Value-at-Risk and systems including trading deal entry and exposure reporting) are in place.

Review exposures and raise limit breaches to the relevant level of escalation to fix it if teams do not provide action plan or action in due course.

Design and ensure the timely generation of risk reports to support trading activity and circulate these to the appropriate stakeholders (e.g. trading desk manager and the Risk Control Committee).

Act a secretary of the Risk Control Committee, update the agenda of meetings and notify important system performance issues.

Act as the senior IT focal point with regards to the CTRM system in terms of troubleshooting issues, proposing and implementing upgrades and adding new functionality of trading instruments.

Provide input to HR department on traders and risk analysts' performance in line with trading KPIs.


Bachelor degree in Economics, Law, Business Administration or equivalent from an internationally recognized university. Postgraduate qualification (MSc. or MBA) preferred.

Minimum 15 years work experience in risk control management, in an energy commodity environment, preferably with 3 years or more in LNG, with leading IOCs, NOCs or reputable trading companies.

Multidisciplinary knowledge and broad competence is required in areas such as trading, sales operations, commercial, financial, contract administration, legal, economic analysis and projects.

Excellent computer literacy skills, including MS excel, CTRM/SAP knowledge, SQL/Database is a plus.

Detailed knowledge of principles, policies, procedures and processes pertaining to risk management.

Detailed knowledge of international competition and anti-trust laws required in the context of LNG trading and working with a high standard of personal integrity.
