Job Description

The Welding Superintendent (Pipeline) will lead and supervise all welding activities on offshore pipeline construction projects, ensuring compliance with project specifications, international welding standards, and safety regulations. This role requires deep technical expertise in subsea pipeline welding, particularly full automatic welding systems used on offshore barges.
 
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise welding operations for subsea pipeline installation on offshore barges.
  • Oversee the setup, operation, and maintenance coordination of full automatic welding systems (e.g., CRC, Serimer, Polysoude, etc.).
  • Ensure all welding parameters and procedures (WPS/PQR) are strictly followed.
  • Work closely with QA/QC teams to maintain high‑quality weld production.
  • Conduct regular inspections to verify weld conformity with international codes (API, DNV, ISO, ASME, etc.).
  • Troubleshoot welding defects and ensure timely corrective actions.
  • Supervise and manage welding crews, foremen, and technicians onboard the barge.
  • Provide guidance, training, and technical support to ensure optimal workforce performance.
  • Coordinate shift planning to ensure continuous and efficient welding operations.
  • Enforce strict adherence to offshore safety procedures and best practices.
  • Conduct toolbox talks focused on welding hazards, equipment handling, and general offshore safety.
  • Report and investigate welding‑related incidents/non‑conformities.
  • Liaise with production, engineering, and barge management teams to align welding operations with project progress.
  • Support the documentation and reporting required by project management.
  • Participate in project meetings, progress reviews, and technical discussions.

 
Qualifications & Experience

  • 12–15 years of relevant experience in offshore pipeline welding operations.
  • Strong background in full automatic welding systems used for subsea pipeline construction.
  • Experience working on offshore construction barges (S‑Lay, NOD, or similar).
  • In-depth knowledge of international welding codes and offshore standards.
  • Technical diploma or engineering qualification in Welding, Mechanical, or related discipline.
  • Valid offshore certificates (BOSIET/FOET, Medical, etc.).
