TBM Chief Mechanic

Location: Curtea de Arges, mountain region, Romania
Project: 1.7 km highway tunnel through challenging terrain
Type: Full-time, site-based

About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced TBM Chief Mechanic to lead the mechanical operation and maintenance of the Tunnel Boring Machine on one of Romania’s most important highway projects. You will ensure the TBM runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently throughout excavation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee all TBM mechanical systems, maintenance, and repairs.
• Lead and coordinate the mechanical team on shift.
• Troubleshoot mechanical faults to minimize downtime.
• Ensure safe working practices and compliance with technical requirements.
• Liaise with engineers and site management for smooth project progress.

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in TBM tunneling projects in a similar senior mechanic role.
• Technical degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of TBM mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Strong leadership and teamwork skills.
• Good English language skills required.
