Sr. Dynamic Riser Engineer

Location: Mexico City
Reports to: SURF Delivery Lead

Job Objective Lead the engineering studies and activities related to dynamic riser systems to support project maturation, ensuring robust, safe, and cost-effective technical solutions aligned with project standards. Act as the technical authority for the discipline, ensuring quality, integrity, and compliance of all engineering deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of dynamic riser and flexible system engineering from concept through installation and commissioning.
• Manage technical interfaces with multidisciplinary teams including Subsurface, Drilling & Wells (D&W), Procurement, and FPSO teams.
• Define engineering standards, functional specifications, and Basis for Design for riser systems.
• Oversee and follow up contractor activities related to engineering, fabrication, installation, testing, and commissioning.
• Ensure compliance with project standards, regulatory requirements, and management systems.
• Support tendering processes (SoW, ITT), including technical clarifications and bid evaluations.
• Implement and follow design verification processes and contribute to Management of Change (MoC).
• Participate in risk assessments (HAZID, HAZOP) and promote a strong HSE culture.
• Capture and implement lessons learned from previous and ongoing projects.
• Contribute to schedule planning and cost estimation within the discipline.
• Support the development of operational documentation, manuals, and procedures.
• Act as Technical Authority for the riser discipline within the project.
• Willingness to travel to contractor sites and perform offshore assignments.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in riser projects, ideally with both operators and contractors.
• Proven experience in design, analysis (dynamic and static), materials, fabrication, and installation of riser systems.
• Experience with pipeline, umbilical, and cable dynamic riser systems.
• Background in both early project phases (FEED) and execution stages.
• Familiarity with relevant international design codes and standards.
• Knowledge of riser contractors and current market trends.

Technical Skills

• Experience in manufacturing and installation of static and dynamic offshore systems.
