Solar Trainer Consultant – Mozambique

We are seeking to hire a Solar Trainer Consultant who will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality, practical technical training on solar PV systems. The role focuses on installation, operations & maintenance (O&M), and system design across multiple tiers, including residential, C&I, hybrid, and mini-grid systems. The Consultant will apply adult learning methodologies and competency-based assessments to build technical capacity and ensure effective knowledge transfer. The role will be based in either Maputo or Nampula, with frequent travel required. The ideal candidate must have an advanced vocational certificate up to a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Mechanical and Electronic candidates may apply with strong Solar PV experience) and a proven track record in solar project implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver practical technical training sessions on solar PV installation, O&M, and system design.
• Facilitate training across different system tiers, including residential, commercial & industrial (C&I), hybrid, and mini-grid systems.
• Apply adult learning methodologies and competency-based assessment approaches in all training sessions.
• Develop and continuously improve training materials, manuals, and technical content.
• Conduct hands-on training and practical demonstrations aligned with real-world applications.
• Assess trainee performance and provide structured feedback to ensure competency development.
• Integrate Health, Safety & Environment (HSE), quality standards, and customer protection principles into training.
• Support knowledge transfer in solar productive use systems and interdisciplinary applications.
• Ensure alignment of training with Mozambique energy regulations and industry standards.
• Prepare training reports, documentation, and evaluation summaries.
• Travel to different locations as required to deliver training programs.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the project or program management team.

 
Required Qualifications:

• Must have an advanced vocational certificate up to a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electronic Engineering.
• Mechanical and Electronic candidates must demonstrate strong, relevant Solar PV experience.
• Must have participated in the design, construction, and commissioning of 6–10 Solar PV systems and be able to document these projects.
• Experience in solar productive use systems and interdisciplinary solar-related activities.
• Additional training or experience in HSE, quality assurance, customer protection, energy regulation in Mozambique, and productive use of energy is an added advantage.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for professional use (reporting, presentations, and documentation).
• Strong facilitation, communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability to engage diverse learners using adult training techniques.
• High level of organization, adaptability, and ability to work independently.
• Willingness and availability to travel frequently.
