Senior Environmental Specialist

Location: Tampico, Tamaulipas (with travel to Mexico City and Matamoros)
Project Duration: 12 months

Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Environmental Specialist to join a strategic project in the Oil & Gas sector. This position will be responsible for providing technical support on environmental matters, ensuring regulatory compliance and the proper implementation of environmental practices in both offshore and onshore operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advisory support on environmental and regulatory matters, including environmental impact assessments and waste management.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable environmental regulations at federal and state levels.
  • Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste, including characterization, handling, transport, disposal, and reporting.
  • Track environmental permits and ensure compliance.
  • Prepare and support environmental deliverables required by regulatory authorities.
  • Conduct audits, assessments, and gap analyses to improve environmental performance.
  • Monitor environmental trends, regulatory changes, and best practices, proposing improvement actions.
  • Support environmental incident management, including spills and emergency response.
  • Participate in the development of environmental procedures, programs, and contingency plans.
  • Coordinate audits of vendors and environmental management practices.
  • Deliver environmental training to personnel.
  • Participate in incident investigations and report preparation.
  • Collaborate on community initiatives with an environmental focus.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in environmental management, preferably within Oil & Gas.
  • Experience in offshore and onshore operations.
  • Intermediate to advanced English proficiency.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations in Mexico (e.g., ASEA, SENER, CONAGUA).
  • Experience with Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001).
  • Knowledge of waste management, discharges, emissions, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience in audits, reporting, and HSE documentation.
  • Advanced English level (mandatory).
  • Availability to travel (domestic and international).
  • Environmental or HSE certifications are desirable.
  • Valid U.S. visa (preferred).
