Job Description

The Operations Manager will oversee all operational, engineering, and project delivery activities for specialised projects within the defence, marine, and energy sectors. This includes managing construction, refurbishment, and technical building projects, as well as supporting offshore and onshore facility upgrades involving HVAC, electrical, instrumentation, piping, modular structures, and critical infrastructure systems.

This role requires a strong leader with deep understanding of operations in regulated, safety‑critical environments.

Job Responsibilities:

• Lead day‑to‑day operations across multiple technical and engineering projects.
• Oversee construction, refurbishment, and modular building activities for defence, marine, and energy facilities.
• Coordinate execution of HVAC, electrical, instrumentation, and piping systems to meet operational and safety standards.
• Manage multidisciplinary teams including engineers, supervisors, and skilled trades personnel.

• Oversee full project lifecycle—from surveys and feasibility assessments to design coordination, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.
• Ensure operational readiness and compliance for marine and energy infrastructure.
• Monitor project progress, budgets, and timelines, ensuring all deliverables meet industry specifications.

• Enforce strict compliance with national and international safety regulations for defence, marine, and offshore operations.
• Lead implementation of QHSE standards across all sites and projects.
• Conduct risk assessments and ensure corrective actions are followed through.

• Manage workforce planning, subcontractor oversight, equipment allocation, and material procurement.
• Ensure that skilled personnel are deployed effectively and trained appropriately for specialised environments.

• Act as the primary operational point of contact for clients, regulatory authorities, and strategic partners.
• Maintain strong communication lines between engineering, project management, and commercial teams.
• Support business development activities by contributing technical input to proposals and project scopes.

• Track KPIs related to operational efficiency, safety, project delivery, and cost performance.
• Prepare operational reports and recommend improvements to processes and resource utilisation.

Key Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Marine Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
• 7–12 years’ experience in operations within the defence, marine, offshore, or energy industries.
• Demonstrated experience managing complex engineering or construction projects.
• Strong background in electromechanical systems, modular structures, or technical facility upgrades.
• Excellent leadership, planning, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Strong understanding of international safety and compliance standards.
