Job Description

The Hook-up Superintendent will oversee and manage all hook-up activities during offshore installation campaigns involving decks, jackets, and associated structures. This position ensures that all hook-up operations—whether performed in the yard or offshore—are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coordinate, and supervise hook-up activities for topsides, decks, jackets, and modules.
  • Manage hook-up works both offshore and in fabrication yards, ensuring readiness before sail-out.
  • Ensure all structural, mechanical, electrical, and piping hook-up scopes are completed as per engineering deliverables.
  • Review hook-up work packs, drawings, and procedures before execution.
  • Develop execution plans, work sequences, and material priorities.
  • Coordinate closely with barge teams, installation crews, engineering, and construction managers.
  • Supervise multi-discipline hook-up teams (riggers, fitters, welders, mechanical/electrical technicians).
  • Allocate workforce and ensure optimal productivity during offshore operations.
  • Conduct daily briefings, toolbox meetings, and ensure tasks are clearly communicated.
  • Ensure hook-up work aligns with project specifications, QA/QC requirements, and international standards.
  • Identify issues related to alignment, fit-up, mechanical integrity, or electrical termination and expedite resolution.
  • Support QA/QC inspections and punch-list clearance.
  • Enforce strict HSE policies across all hook-up operations.
  • Participate in Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and permit-to-work (PTW) processes.
  • Ensure safe lifting operations and proper use of tools, equipment, and PPE.
  • Coordinate with fabrication yards during pre-commissioning and load-out preparations.
  • Assist in resolving technical queries (TQs) or site technical issues with engineering teams.
  • Work closely with commissioning teams to ensure smooth handover.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 12–15 years of experience in offshore oil & gas construction.
  • Strong background in hook-up operations for topsides, jackets, decks, or modular installations.
  • Experience working on offshore construction barges, NOD vessels, or installation campaigns.
  • Technical diploma or engineering degree in Mechanical, Structural, Marine, or related field.
  • Valid offshore certification (BOSIET/FOET + medical).
