GENERAL MANAGER – FIELD PRODUCTION
Job Description

Job Purpose / Objective

Lead and oversee field production operations including hull construction, outfitting, pre-blasting and painting, painting, machinery installation, commissioning and scaffolding activities. Ensure shipbuilding projects are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with quality standards.

Required Background
Proven shipbuilding experience in a shipyard environment such as commercial shipbuilding and ship repair facilities. Hands-on experience in vessel construction, fabrication, assembly, outfitting, dry docking, ship repair, commissioning, or related marine projects.

Key Accountabilities
Post Painting

• Supervise post-painting activities and protective coating application.
• Implement quality control measures for coating thickness, adhesion and finish.
• Ensure environmental and safety compliance.

Machinery Installation

• Oversee installation of propulsion, auxiliary and onboard systems.
• Coordinate alignment, integration and testing activities.
• Ensure compliance with specifications and safety standards.

Commissioning

• Manage testing, trials and systems integration.
• Coordinate inspections and certifications.
• Oversee sea trials and performance testing.

Scaffolding

• Manage scaffolding planning, installation, inspection and dismantling.
• Ensure certified and compliant scaffolding systems.
• Support safe access for all construction phases.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or related field.

Professional Qualifications

• Valid professional qualification/certification relevant to shipbuilding or marine engineering.

Experience

• Minimum 18-20 years of experience in Shipbuilding Field Production Management or similar manufacturing environments.
