Job Description

The Approval Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring all technical drawings, material submissions, and documentation meet the standards required by clients, consultants, and relevant authorities. This role supports project execution by coordinating with internal teams and external stakeholders to secure timely approvals for all engineering and design deliverables.
 
Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and submit shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, and technical documents for consultant/authority approval.
  • Ensure all submissions comply with project specifications, codes, and standards.
  • Track, monitor, and maintain logs of all submitted and approved documents.
  • Coordinate closely with design, engineering, procurement, and project teams to gather accurate information for submissions.
  • Liaise with consultants, clients, suppliers, and authorities to follow up on approvals and resolve technical queries.
  • Attend project coordination and technical meetings as required.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations (Dubai Municipality, DCD, Trakhees, DM, etc.) and interior fit-out guidelines.
  • Review drawings for accuracy, constructability, and adherence to Volumec’s quality standards.
  • Highlight discrepancies and recommend technical solutions to resolve approval issues.
  • Maintain a structured documentation system for all approvals, revisions, and correspondence.
  • Update approval trackers, schedules, and logs for management visibility.
  • Ensure that all approved documents are distributed to relevant project teams.
  • Assist in resolving design conflicts through RFI submissions.
  • Provide technical support during project execution related to approved materials, drawings, and specifications.
  • Ensure timely re-submissions and revisions to avoid project delays.

 
Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design, or related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in the interior fit-out industry, ideally in Dubai/UAE.
  • Strong understanding of joinery, fit-out materials, and interior design technical standards.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Office, and document-control software.
  • Knowledge of UAE authority approval processes (e.g., DM, DCD, Trakhees, Nakheel).
  • Strong understanding of shop drawings, construction details, and fit-out methodology.
