Background:
In line with our commitment to workforce development in the energy sector, WTS Energy Nigeria recently delivered a comprehensive, multi-topic training program for a renowned Exploration and Production (E&P) company in Nigeria.
The training initiative was designed to strengthen operational efficiency, safety, and supervisory competence across the client’s field operations teams (covering upstream production, tank farm activities, and pipeline management).
Objectives of the training:
The client sought to upskill a large segment of its field workforce across key operational areas to:
- Ensure pipeline security and integrity management
- Improve production system performance
- Strengthen quality control and process optimization
- Enhance tank farm and pipeline operational efficiency

Scope of training:
WTS Energy developed and delivered a custom training program focused on key technical and supervisory skills in oil and gas field operations. The training was conducted across four core modules:
| Training Course | Focus Areas | Participants Trained |
| Production System Optimization and Quality Control | Reducing production losses, ensuring consistent output quality through system audits, control methods, and equipment reliability practices. | 62 |
| Optimized Oil & Gas Production Process Operation and Supervision | Supervisory practices, process monitoring, performance analysis, and incident prevention techniques for daily production operations. | 81 |
| Tank Farm Operations and Performance | Best practices in storage management, fluid measurement, safety, and compliance with industry standards. | 21 |
| Pipeline Operations, Maintenance, Security & Integrity Management (PIMS) | Pipeline infrastructure maintenance, leak detection, flow assurance, third-party risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance. | 15 |
Total Participants Trained: 179
Outcomes
- 179 field operations personnel trained across multiple high-impact technical areas
- Significant knowledge transfer in production optimization, process control, and asset integrity
- Improved preparedness for pipeline risk scenarios and maintenance strategies
- Boosted supervisory capabilities across tank farm and production teams
- Increased compliance awareness in line with Nigerian and international oilfield standards
Feedback from the Client
“The training program demonstrated outstanding effectiveness overall, with near-universal positive responses across all metrics. Continued emphasis on practical application and instructor expertise should be maintained, while considering minor adjustments to further align course content with diverse job roles.”
Conclusion
This project highlights WTS Energy’s ability to deliver tailored, large-scale technical training that directly improves operational performance and workforce capability. Through a hands-on, practical approach and skilled trainers, we empowered one of Nigeria’s leading E&P players to future-proof its frontline workforce.
