Background:
Our collaboration with a leading offshore services provider in Mexico began in 2020 through recruitment services for a floating production project in the Campeche block. While the collaboration officially started with recruitment, the foundation had already been laid through our previous work with another major energy company in the region since 2017. This existing experience gave us insight into local offshore standards, regulatory compliance, and operational expectations (key elements that allowed us to add value from the outset).
In 2022, the relationship expanded to include the delivery of Specialized Services, enabling us to provide more comprehensive workforce solutions in support of ongoing offshore operations.
Challenge
At the outset of the recruitment collaboration, the client was operating within a market where local experience with FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) projects was very limited. FPSO technology remains relatively uncommon in Mexico, which made it challenging to source local professionals with the required technical background and certifications.
This challenge called for a recruitment partner who could deliver highly specialized offshore profiles, ensure compliance with international standards, and respond to the urgency and precision that offshore operations demand.
Our Solution
Leveraging our prior regional experience and industry knowledge, we were able to align quickly with the client’s needs. From the beginning, the collaboration was built on mutual trust and continuous communication. The client values our responsiveness and our ability to adjust based on feedback or shifting project requirements.
Our work in FPSO recruitment in Mexico has been a key part of this collaboration. In addition to recruitment, we began delivering specialized services in 2022 to cover critical roles and help maintain operational continuity.
We also adapted commercially, addressing the client’s recurring request for revised proposals, by remaining flexible and competitive on pricing while maintaining quality of service.
Key Roles Placed
We have successfully filled a range of specialized technical positions critical to FPSO operations, including:
- Mechanics
- Instrument Technicians
- Electricians
- Maintenance Personnel
- Scaffolders
- And other technical offshore profiles
These placements were made through a recruitment process designed to deliver high-quality candidates.
Supporting Urgent & Niche Hiring Needs
Due to the high-stakes nature of offshore operations, many of the client’s requests have been urgent and time-sensitive. Delays in filling these roles would directly impact both production and safety.
Our ability to respond quickly has been enabled by the specialized candidate pool we’ve developed over time. Therefore, this allows us to meet tight timelines while ensuring candidates are appropriately qualified for complex offshore environments.
Value Delivered
- Flexibility: We tailor our proposals and terms to client needs without compromising quality.
- Quality: We provide benefits above legal standards, contributing to consultant satisfaction and operational stability.
- Speed & Continuity: We meet critical hiring timelines and maintain proactive communication to anticipate future needs.
- Strategic Impact: By delivering qualified, offshore-ready profiles, we help strengthen the safety, efficiency, and overall performance of FPSO operations.
Client Feedback
We have received positive feedback from both Commercial and Operations/QHSE teams. Recently, a joint meeting was held involving stakeholders from Finance, Commercial, Operations, and QHSE to explore opportunities for continuous improvement.
Our work in FPSO recruitment in Mexico has been a key element of this collaboration. This reflects the strength of the partnership and a shared commitment to building efficient, compliant, and future-ready offshore operations.
