Sustainability Goals

UNSDG

In 2015, the UN adopted 17 sustainable development goals (UNSDGs), which seek to address the world’s biggest challenges, including ending poverty, improving health and education, making cities sustainable and tackling climate change.
We embrace the UNSDGs and continue to develop our approach to how we can achieve them. The UNSDGs are relevant to WTS Energy’s operations around the world to varying degrees and we are already contributing to many of these goals. In 2018, we prioritised three goals that WTS contributes to because of our field of expertise. 15 Years of experience in providing meaningful jobs to people all over the world enables the organization to have a positive impact on society.

We fully support the Paris Agreement, and its goal of keeping the rise in global temperatures to below two degrees Celsius. We hope to add significant value in reducing emissions across the energy value chain.

UNSDG 8 - DECENT WORK AND ECONOMIC GROWTH

PROGRESS OF GOAL 8 IN 2018 – DECENT WORK AND ECONOMIC GROWTH

Employment is a critical route out of poverty and towards prosperity. We provide jobs around the world and aim to follow labour, health and safety standards. We encourage knowledge transfer and work with our clients and others to offer training to build local skills and expertise. Recently, we opened our training centre in Gabon that also offers public courses such as teaching English to the local community for free. Because of WTS’s presence in many countries we contribute to local economic growth by paying taxes.

UNSDG 10 - REDUCED INEQUALITIES

PROGRESS OF GOAL 10 IN 2018 – REDUCED INEQUALITIES

Through our global pool of resources, we aim to provide equal opportunity
and reduce inequalities and ensure our clients chose the right consultant
for the right job. Many of the jobs we provide are for global clients
where skills and competencies are important irrespective of age, sex, race, ethnicity, origin and religion.
Diversity of the workforce is a key ingredient to guarantee jobs
for every person in the world and decrease unemployment rates.
As a result, the economy is boosted and creates value for everyone.

UNSDG 13 - CLIMATE ACTION

PROGRESS OF GOAL 13 IN 2018 – CLIMATE ACTION

We are seeking cost-effective ways to help our client to reduce
greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and conduct Research & Development
on best available techniques to develop better solutions.
We seek to contribute to reducing global GHG emissions in several ways:

  • Monitoring and follow up of fugitive emission leaks, Flare emissions and underground leaks at our client sites
  • Implementing energy-efficiency measures in our operations where reasonably practical
  • Benchmarking of different sites around the world to uncover areas of improvement and capturing best practices that can be shared within the industry
