Job description Mechanical Supervisor - Offshore

Job Purpose:

Plans, supervises and participates in the installation, maintenance, repair and test of a wide variety of offshore mechanical equipment (including Gas Turbines, Compressors, Pumps etc).

Plans and supervises the day to day maintenance, repair, removal and replacement of Mechanical systems, supervising the activities of Company employees and contracted technicians.

Participates in or carries out troubleshooting of complex and routine faults as required. Ensures that maintenance schedules are adhered to, records are updated and that all activities are carried out in accordance with company's Health, Safety and Environment policies and procedures.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Supervises the activities of assigned mechanical trade personnel on his assigned assets.

Receives and reviews incoming work requests. Determines and enters work request requirements in terms of man-hours, skill levels, materials and equipment required into Maximo and assigns criticality. In cases of criticality/equipment breakdown, liaises with production to immediately respond to production requirement.

Receives the preventive maintenance work program of work orders. Arranges the daily schedule, determines necessary skill levels, allocates work to technicians and arranges for support services, materials and/or test equipment availability. Arranges appropriate JSA for PTW and passes to the Permit coordinator to initiate preparation. Monitors the progress of mechanical work, provides advice and guidance on courses of action to be taken and arranges for equipment testing and/or fitting work to be inspected when required. Reviews completed work, checks and carries out start-up tests.

Ensures that all work orders and check lists are completed with actual man-hours taken, materials used, date job completed and enters data into the Maximo System. At the end of each shift, discusses work with the Maintenance Foreman and updates him on the current situation within the assigned assets, discusses any problems requiring technical or logistical requirements and any delays in programs. Also ensures the proper maintenance of all section records, files and drawings. Reviews stores holding and purchase requisitions of materials to improve maintenance effectiveness.

Assists in the development of proposals for modifications or installation of new equipment. Supervises any in-house project work done by technicians, personally carrying out the more complex modifications and/or installations. Participates in the testing and commissioning of new or modified equipment and systems.

Participates in the planning for, and supervises the execution of, major equipment/plant turnarounds and shutdowns for his discipline. Prepares work lists, reviews requests from Production and assists in the development of an overall work plan for the overhaul/shutdown. Participates in the testing and start-up of overhauled equipment.

Ensures that all activities of the unit are carried out in accordance with the Company's safety policies and procedures. Ensures that all safety rules and regulations are fully explained to Company and contractor employees; that appropriate safety and protective equipment is ordered and stocked in the work unit; that safety notices are prominently displayed in all work areas; and that all accidents and incidents are efficiently investigated and analysed, including implementation of measures to avoid a recurrence.

Attends daily meetings with Production personnel, planning team and other maintenance supervisors to discuss work, set work priorities and to coordinate and schedule the day's activities.

Reviews and updates PPM procedures, drawings, project scope of works, and bill of materials.

Can on occasion assume the responsibilities of Maintenance Foreman in his absence representing him in the meetings.

Evaluates Mechanical equipment improvement suggestions with other crafts, peers and decides and if idea is positive, recommends it up for implementation.

Carries out active monitoring audits of PTW and reports findings to Senior Production Foreman.

Requirements Mechanical Supervisor - Offshore

• Completion of Secondary (10 years) education, followed by 3 years' Diploma or apprenticeship in Mechanical training and qualifications (equivalent to UK City and Guilds/NVQ or ONC).
• 8-10 years' varied Mechanical installation, maintenance and repair experience of Gas Turbine, Compressor, Pumps and general mechanical equipment associated with oil & gas production. Experience should include some supervisory experience and experience in the use of computer maintenance and materials systems.
• Good written and spoken English.
• Should be computer literate, having knowledge of MS Office.
