Our Client is currently seeking a Procurement Supervisor for their facility close to Freeport, Tx with knowledge and proven procurement expertise primarily supporting multiple facilities within the LNG, Oil and Gas, and/ or Petrochemical industries. The Procurement Supervisor will provide oversight of procurement for equipment, materials, and services to ensure uninterrupted operation of the facilities and building an efficient and competitive local supply base.
The Procurement Supervisor will be responsible for the supervision of the operational and minor capital project procurement of goods and services. The Procurement Supervisor primarily interfaces with the local operational management teams to align maintenance and minor capital project materials, and on-going service requirements with company’s growth plans. The Procurement Supervisor will also work closely with internal legal resources in developing and managing contractor compliance with Service Agreements.
Essential Functions & Duties/Responsibilities:
In collaboration with the Contracts Supervisor, developing, negotiating, implementing and maintaining competitively advantageous local service and supply agreements, in addition to category strategies required to ensure an uninterrupted flow of goods and services;
Champions and act as a subject matter expert in the usage of the SAP ERP system (specifically, the MM module) with regards to the acquisition of goods and services, and provide ad-hoc training to end users as necessary;
Provide supervision to the local procurement group for understanding, monitoring, and communicating procurement best practices;
Manage supplier performance for materials & supplies, and maintain interfaces at management levels of supplier’s organization;
Participation in negotiations with suppliers, procurement colleagues and contractors together with company’s Legal & Maintenance departments;
Ensure that company sourcing processes are consistent with the necessary legal and stakeholder requirements;
Balances workload across the procurement group to maximize the effective use of resources;
Coaches and supports in the development of a high performance culture;
Promotes continuous improvement and optimization of procurement processes;
Ensures compliance with company policies, procedures, best practices and procurement guidelines;
Must be eligible to work without visa sponsorship in the USA and must live within 50 miles of Freeport, Tx. Leadership experience in operations, engineering, and/or functional teams a strong plus
Strong SAP knowledge required in MM. Experience in other SAP modules a plus
Contract knowledge strongly preferred.
Must be capable of working in a multi-task environment, be team oriented and able to handle difficult/challenging situations.
Purchasing operations & systems, regional & local market knowledge, financial policies/guidelines & procedures, contract knowledge, effective negotiation, results orientation.
Bachelor’s degree is preferred, but may substitute adequate experience in lieu of education (oil & gas, petrochemical, business preferred)
Must have at least 10-15 years of experience in procurement, operations, engineering, maintenance, and/or related experience
